Compliance with following International Standards:
ASTM D127, IP 133
Applications:
Used for the determination of the drop melting point of petroleum wax. It is used primarily for petrolatum and other microcrystalline wax.
Summary of Test Method:
Specimens are deposited on two thermometer bulbs by dipping chilled thermometers into the sample. The thermometers bearing the specimens are placed in test tubes and heated by means of a water bath until the specimens melt and the first drop falls from each thermometer bulb. The average of the temperatures at which these drops fall is the drop melting point of the sample.
Details of the apparatus:
- Heating device with a mild steel housing
- Temperature is controlled by energy regulator
- Consists of 1 transparent container (Pyrex jar) of 1500 ml capacity
- Jar is supplied with Teflon cover for the accommodation of the test tube by means of a cork stopper having a hole in the center for introducing and holding the test tube
- Teflon cover is also equipped with a filling hole with cap and hole with relevant cork holder for thermometer
- Test tube with 25 mm outside diameter and 150 mm long with cork stopper with hole for thermometer
- Operates on 230 volts, 50 hz, AC Supply
